Licensed Professional Counselor
Joseph is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado with a Master’s Degree in Counseling with a specialization in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Prescott College in Prescott, AZ (2015). He also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies from Northern Arizona University. Over the last 6 years, Joseph has worked in various clinical settings in Southwest Colorado, most extensively in crisis intervention. He also has several years of experience in providing counseling to couples, families, and groups, as well as individuals (teens and adults) who experience symptoms related to Post-traumatic Stress, mood and anxiety disorders, personality disorders, attachment disorders, and substance use disorders. Joseph practices from a Person-Centered approach where he values the therapeutic relationship and works to provide a safe and supportive environment where clients can meet their individual treatment goals.
Joseph integrates a variety of evidence-based approaches to meet individual needs and enjoys bringing experiential therapeutic methods into his work with clients to support them in getting the most out of their counseling sessions. Joseph has completed the following trainings and is competent to provide Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality (CAMS Care), Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and Crisis Intervention (CIT). Joseph also provides spiritual counseling.
Joseph grew up in Prescott, AZ. After years spent traveling and working across the western and southern United States and abroad, he moved back to Colorado in 2013 to start a family with his wife Heather, whom he married in 2008. They now have two children and call Durango their forever home. Joseph is also a classically trained chef and certified peace officer. In his free time, Joseph can usually be found on the links or on the water, and living the beautiful mountain life with his family.
